This bag has been handwoven by women from Kitui county. The sisal fiber is extracted by peeling bark of the sisal leaf with wooden spatula. The sisal fiber is then dried brushed, dyed with natural plants such as trunk of a tree. The sisal fiber is then twisted by hands and then weaved diligently to the desired pattern. Once done Then the basket is brought to the workshop for value addition into the designs we have worked on by our workmen (locally known as Fundi) who fits in naturally tanned leather flaps, bidding handles, straps. 100% done by hand.
